Ian Mead
Ian Mead is Chief of the Bureau of Economic Analysis' (BEA's) Regional Product Division, overseeing the production of the GDP-by-state and GDP-by-metropolitan-area statistics and the maintenance of the Regional Input Output Multiplier (RIMS II) system. He recently assumed this position after spending 8 years as a research economist, and later a branch chief, in the National Economic Accounts Directorate. He has coauthored several articles and working papers that have focused on understanding the differences between related statistical measures and provided leadership in the development of new measures at the Bureau, such as national household saving rates. Prior to joining the Bureau, he served as the Administrator of the Census Bureau's Boston Research Data Center and a Visiting Scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, where his research focused on the regional determinants of new plant location and technology adoption.
